Throughout human history, the only economic force that has
spanned the entire four million year spectrum of social development is labor –
people working. Labor has moved from
tribes and clans, to various forms of slavery.
In less mature cultures it has evolved from a status of property, to
that of resource. In more mature
cultures, labor is recognized as a stakeholder and partner. The bottom-line, the oldest and most powerful
economic force on this planet is not management, capital or technology; it is the
combination of knowledge, skill and experience known as wisdom. Within the next decade, China and India will pass
the United States as the world’s economic leader. These two economic powers will not accomplish
this by inventing new technology; they will do this by investing in an education
system that develops people.
