The problems our nation faces today, such as education, are the result of decades of disconnected ideas and decisions; the product of a nation divided by political and economic philosophy. Are we really trying to solve them in space of a single administrative term? Do we think it is possible to design solutions that have continuity across generations, not just election cycles? Perhaps, but in my mind, this first requires a nation united on understanding the problem. Unfortunately, we don't share an understanding and that has made our problems even more complex – with decades of disconnected ideas and decisions.

From the beginning of its inception, we have struggled with the fact that corporations have neither bodies to be punished nor souls to be damned. A product of our emergence from the dark ages, the continued existence of corporations has been challenged since it began. Corporate charters formed the authority of the transportable governmental - power needed to discover and conquer an unknown world. Yes, corporations made perfect sense when the dominate reductionist perspective of the world was the isolated silos of activity. As Systems Thinking continues to expand, the weaknesses of our old thinking is exposed to the light of day. Evidence is pouring in with a proliferation of fresh, new, well thought out ideas such as the latest paper by L. Metcalf and S. Benn.
